The Satsop River is one of the best Chinook salmon fishing rivers in Western Washington. The Satsop is a tributary fork of the Chehalis River and has many tributary forks itself. There are three tributary forks--the East, West and middle forks, that are actually much longer than the main stream itself.
The river, along with its tributaries, allow for the migration of Chinook salmon, Coho salmon and Chum. The middle fork is known for supporting large runs of these species. The tributaries of the Satsop--such as the Canyon River, the little river and Decker Creek--are important for the spawning of Salmon on the area.
